Hunting

Come experience what a wilderness elk hunt is all about.

Our Forest Service permit provides us access to outfit thousands of acres of the Bridger Teton National Forest. With great management by the WY Department of Game and Fish, elk populations here are as healthy as they’ve ever been. We specialize in taking a limited number of hunters each season to ensure a quality hunting experience.

With our season opening on September 20th each year, we offer one of the earliest rifle hunts that can be found, providing our hunters lots of opportunity to experience the thrill of hunting bugling bulls. Our hunts are conducted at elevations of 8-10,000ft, utilizing horses to access backcountry elk hideouts. Your base camp is equipped with canvas wall tents and comfortable sleeping arrangements where you’ll return each night to relax, eat a home cooked meal and reminisce about the day’s events.

Backcountry hunting not your thing? Talk to us about a late season hunt.

Winter often comes early at Half Moon Lake Lodge but if you don’t mind the cold and snow, some of our later hunts can produce great results all while utilizing the main lodge as our basecamp.

Looking for something else?

In addition to elk, we’re happy to offer hunts for moose, black bear, antelope and mule deer. Please reach out to us for more details.
